Hello! Welcome to my online Portfolio. My name is Jamie Martinsen, I'm 22 and currently work at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre as their Main Stage Supervisor for the 2024-2025 season. Before working for the Maltz Jupiter Theatre I attended the University of North Carolina School of the Arts from 2020-2024 obtaining my Bachelor's degree in Scenic Technology. Some of my classes included Technical Direction, Structural Design for the stage, and Automation as well as studies in Welding, Drafting, Stagecraft, and a production class designated for the current production build time.

I have spent much of my life onstage and backstage, working on and performing in shows, that theatre has become my passion. Theatre has given me lifelong friendships and amazing teachers I look up to who have given me the best learning environment. Throughout my time in High school and College, I have spent countless hours learning, building, practicing, and perfecting how to safely and efficiently build sets and work with other departments to put on shows.

Being able to focus on a show, work for months on it, and present it to the audience allows me to show my skills and have time to work on my mistakes to become a better carpenter and leader. Working with a skilled group of talented technicians to bring the director's vision to life, whether that be the biggest or smallest set, is so rewarding. To have an audience be star-struck when they see the stage is an accomplishment in itself.

Looking back at all the shows I’ve done and participated in, being able to tell stories to people that I do something so cool with some of my closest friends is the very essence of why I want to do this as a career. The theatre community is so welcoming and hard-working that I look forward to continuing my education both in school and professionally.
